Basketball!!

Today Greece beat US of A in the world basketball championships semi-final n Athens went crazy...

Ofcourse had to join in the celebrations..so bought a greek flag n roamed the streets with a colleague..an italian told me...international support always helps...lolz

hmmm....so my country doesnt play basketball...(losing 100-30 to china is not playing i suppose)

my country doesnt play many other sports too...we used to be world beaters in hockey once..but we all know where we stand in that too now

y!!!!not because cricket hogs all the limelite n only cricketers make money....thats not a good enough excuse...but because the sons of bitches in the sports ministry and handling sports affairs are loser politicians who are useful for nothing but the government wants to appease them or doesnt want to lose their support in the coalition.so what have we got...an unhappy minister who doesnt give a fuk abt the fact that 1/6th of the population of earth barely manages to win a bronze medal in the olympics or any other important sport events....

y is not realised that sports/games can unite a country in unimaginable ways,maybe second only to during wartime.That all the times we do hindu/muslim/sikh/christian gets forgotten during those sparingly few moments of individual/team brilliance n we feel proud that an Indian not Hindu GopiChand won Badminton Championship and an Indian not Christian Paes won the bronze medal at the olympics and an Indian not Muslim Sania Mirza gives a tough fight to the likes of William sisters.......

If only a few of the people could realise this and get real men and women to handle the sports affairs of our country n screw these loathable wimps who currently preside n think of our sports affairs as their personal fiefdom and talented sportspersons as their fiefs..

and not just these guys handling the current affairs,what about the media,for them its always more interesting to show a page 3 tramp being laid down or led away by some equally corrupt pimp politician or businessman instead of focussing on the budding talented youngsters who could be much helped by bringin to the sponsoring comunity's notice about their existence and highlighting their achievements no matter how small they may be in the "bigger scheme of things" ..You mite say that people get what they deserve...but whatever happened to responsible journalism!!

Really dont need a great vision or foresight to see the advantages of building a world class community of talented athletes n all.Jus have to look a lil east to see china or for that matter to a lil west to germany which hosted the fifa wc'06.Spotlight on the country, foreign money and what not.With the next olymipcs in china,its goin to be at the worlds centrestage showcasing its brilliant infrastructure whereas we'll be looking at ourselves thinking where did we miss something.Maybe times like when the hindu/muslim fanatics had their rendezvous in gujarat!!!when innocent lives were lost from both communities and when the rest of the country watched in shame and wept silently......
