Self - Interest

When a lover herself realizes/feels that a man loves her more than she loves him [ realizes/feels is important because in this particular case, any effort to express it explicitly may fall under the realms of pretentiousness. Also it seems for abstract concepts, and certainly for the abstract concept such as love, any explicit verbal outpour or description may not do justice to that aspect of abstract thought and may, inadvertently, take some shine off it [ poetry comes close and sometimes even manages to fill this descriptive void beautifully, but precisely because it is abstract in its own sense]].

Coming back, through this realization, what the man has, possibly, essentially tried to convey is to tell her to keep on loving him, or not to stop loving him or maybe to love him even more.

Can we ever then say then that such a sense of self - interest is wrong or even subjective and is it really wrong to hope only such a sense prevails in society, for all matters. For is it not that when each individual follows this in its purest sense, he will ultimately be only contributing to the good, which society may well do with.

The 3 of you

The one who thinks, thinks and only thinks and gets sometimes tired to the extent of getting thunked.

The one who doesn't do, doesn't do, doesn't do at all to the extent of getting tired of it and then doing something about it.

And the one, the smart guy, watching the other two actors, even deciding sometimes whether to see 3, or 3 times infinite,or 1 or 0 times any finite, pulling the levers, pulling to the extremes and in between, sometimes pretending to be asleep, sometimes hoping to be asleep, sometimes hoping it could be pretending to be asleep.

Indulgence (British - Indian Rap Mix)

The never ending ending illusion
******************

If you have reached that degree of self-indulgence where you also expect others to indulge in you (remember the I'm the center of the universe) and your intellect, either out of choice (knowing mind) or out of some sort of unknown subconscious desire, which you perceive as chance or circumstances, only allows you to be in company of such other like self-indulgent people, this is what I think they intend when they use the word paradox.Or, on further reflection, could this instead be irony?

Or, maybe, if you want to continue to reflect further in the futile hope that you can hang onto this last random thought a little longer (because you somehow know you are at the end of it and again, either/or/nor paradoxically/ironically, none of the other thoughts seemed fit enough to hang onto), could this (this is that particular thought which I hoped all the focus would be on but from where, I think, I have already digressed too far), yes, this particular thought could it also mean paradoxical irony.

[Finally, thought gone. And you thought, you, or anything you want to relate to,could never end]

But now, o lordy lord, what's this, this residual, this losing battle.....

thought trailing away.....
thought trailing away......
going....going......
almost gone......
whispers....maybe it has nothing to do with either paradox or irony
gone.

Best Friends

Written: 11 Sep 09
*****************
What is this about best friends? How is it possible that man be intelligent enough (for we know him to be otherwise) to be able to even think that he has been able to separate out the grain from the chaff and proclaim to the world that he has finally managed to pick out the finest grain from all the creatures he has ever met.

Can't it be seen that this best friend concept in itself, to a certain degree,is analogous to close mindedness of society in not being receptive to other people, other cultures,to thoughts, ideas, expressions, art and all that there is which causes or has the potential to cause conflict among men.

Without going into further details of how one, purposefully or inadvertently, may stop being open and ready to love, suffice it to say that instead of best friend or friends (if you want to be cheeky, or if on a more serious note, you are playing safe), every person should adopt the attitude of considering everybody and everything that one comes along to have the potential of being best and to say to himself or if proclaiming to the world, say, This X is my potential best friend. And the more the potential of X is realised, you respect it and feel fortunate to have met a decent animal ,of your kind and nature, coming close to your concept of perfectness.

Following this attitude, it will be be worthwhile to see this hope amongst people when they give everybody the benefit of doubt without being judgemental or prejudiced from the outset [ for cant we also see that, whatever impression you have about anybody as perceived from a third party, in all likelihood, on first hand account, you will fit that person only as per the impression you already decided on ] and are always trying to give love a chance before hate so that they can fill that void of best.

And, not to mention, wouldnt it be interesting and even most worthwhile maybe, for world peace ( :) ), if in this process, man forgets to realise that man's actual best friend is and can only be he himself.

Mediocrity

Written: 6th Sep 09
******************

If you cannot be great or skillful, atleast be crazy. You will in this process screw your own happiness and of others who love and care for you, but atleast you can beat the shit out of mediocrity.

[One can say, how can you define mediocrity or that it is subjective - For one who has not had that absolute sensation of success within himself, the latter question is irrelevant as he will know nothing apart from mediocrity - be it thoughts, actions, expressions, means, ends etc. But the one who has even once tasted or felt that absolute within himself, it is only natural that he may be discontented with all other events in material world or that society has to offer to him. And can it not be understood that it is worthwhile going in pursuit of such absolute than to live a mediocre life]

Inertial Discontentment

Written: 6th Sep 09
******************

When you think you are one of those Kings of Procrastination and always delaying or rather not doing any of the things you think you want (or would like) to do because you think you are too pre-occupied doing things you would rather not do (even though maybe deep within you you know that if you really want you could accommodate both these activities) , one solution for these discontented chemically inert creatures is to actually come into being of complete inertness.

Once in a state of complete inertness, when there is nothing to do apart from staring blankly at nothing, the mind knowing very well that one of the most difficult things is to be doing nothing, and if someone if lucky (in the sense of out of choice and not enforced (as a mark of respect to the free will) ) not to be surrounded by near and dear and strange ones for extended periods of time, this combination (deadly, I must say) of nothingness and loneliness could well be a perfect starting point in man's fight to conquer inertia. And also the fact that the knowing mind is perfectly well aware of the state that it is in, could only be seen as the perfect icy icing on the cake.

I say free will and knowing mind above because it seems likely that if an unknowing mind tries to work with such an experiment, insanity as one of the side effects does not seem to be out of the realms of possibility. (on reflecting further, a minute possibility of insanity does seem possible even for the knowing mind if the experiment is carried out beyond the level of individual human endurance.)

Coming back though, once this foundation has been established and once the concerned individual thinks that he has squeezed or used up all of inertia within him that was "supposedly" stopping him from doing things that he "thought" he would have very much liked to do, the mind, after having tired itself beyond its endurance, will start to reflect upon all such to do lists which were previously buried deep down and will start taking slow and steady steps to actualize some or all of these in some specific order or altogether [ This fine tuning it seems shall be arrived at after experiments and after doing feasibility studies, and after all because this is uncharted territory and there may not be any off the shelves books or self-styled gurus doling out secrets (read I think as common sense), this time consuming fine tuning activity will in itself become a good workout for the mind]

Anyways, coming back, after, which I think was another digression, the individual self can start to walk towards this path of self - realization.Considering that inertia is to raise its head again, we should not forget a very strong foundation of loneliness and nothingness has already been laid out where the individual will find himself again and will go through this entire process again until he decides to pick up from where he last left. We can see how in this way we can try to eliminate this basic fallacy of man's nature to blame everything and everyone for his unhappiness except his very own self. [where it may be noted that majority, if not absolute all of the world's problems exist].

Sticking our thoughts to the word self-realization used earlier, it should be clear, hopefully, that this entire exercise is to be directed at one's own self and all the actions that arise should be pursued and enjoyed purely for the act of acting. ie: focus should be purely on the means and although inspiration may be sought from some of the ends achieved to venture further in other to-do actions, this should be incidental. At the risk of repeating and continuous verbose bombardment, needless to say it should be futile to seek happiness from others in terms of gratification etc for it seems obvious that if man starts to seek his happiness in others through their acts, he will also seek his own unhappiness in or through them and hence cause the conflict as mentioned earlier. [Although we must admit it seems what we are really asking is a person to be part of the society and still be not a part of it, which does seem a very difficult task, but whoever said this was an easy exercise :) ]

Apart from the battle of man with himself which this way of life seemingly personifies (and which seems to be the ideal way of life), one can only hope that if many individuals beat the odds of circumstances and tread on this path and they do decide at some point there is no glamor in insanity and return to their respective societal way of life, they will, hopefully. be much better and contented (corollary of contentment - more focussed and interested in what they have and the task at hand or to use corporate jargon - more productive resource) souls than they were before embarking on this journey.

Abstractness

Written: 28th Aug 09
*******************

The beauty of abstractness lies in that it may be incomplete in itself or shallow in thought or of mediocre nature (as perceived by the creator), but when interpreted (naturally by one other than the creator), can generate so meaningful a thing such as a great expression or an idea and if indeed it may be a lucky day, even a beautiful poem, which in so far it is abstract in its interpretation, may complete this viscious and beautiful abstract circle.

Moral Judgements

If a lion ever sees a beautiful girl in the jungle and thinks to himself, "what a piece of meat", what are we then to think of this?

[As a mark of respect to free will and because only those actions or thoughts can be appropriately considered to reflect on any kind of morality, we need to consider the lion in the jungle and not in the zoo. ]

Three Day Weekends

Written : 27th Aug 09
*******************

What would have happened if Friday was clubbed in the weekend as well? If all the world followed this standard and moved at this pace, absolutely nothing would have changed.

I used to think earlier that the French were not running fast enough in this world and hence this somewhat welfare state was failing. Now, though, I realize that is not them but the mindless and blind running of the rest of the word that has disturbed our equilibrium.

Today, where growing prosperity of material nature and that too in the fastest possible manner concerns the life of the majority, a three day weekend should do some good. This pause will, hopefully, allow people to reflect and will, again hopefully, force them to think about how to prosper for themselves in matters of more humane nature.

Some may argue as to why the current two day weekend does not suffice. I believe, for the majority atleast, that Saturday is almost gone in a sort of hangover state from the running of the past 5 days and a good part of Sunday is gone dreading about the next 5 days to come.If the above premise is true. where is then the time to sit and reflect and to think for oneself and oneself alone. [ Thinking for oneself should not be thought of from the selfish corrupt kind (no subjectivity here) but from an objective self - interest motive.Again, the belief that if actions or thoughts are based on pure self-interest without being selfish or being sacrificial, the happiness that one tries to achieve is shared equally by all those near and dear to him be it parents, wife, children. With this I mean that while becoming happy, satisfied and content with oneself, incidentally and without any extra effort others around one can be part of that happiness and contentment. But this should be taken up separately as a separate topic altogether.]

Coming back, another argument some may give is what makes one think that if 2 days are not sufficient to distract people from their current distractions they are involved in, a 3 day off should work? The premise being that if, overall and universally. things indeed slow up a bit, man will, out of no choice exhausted all his distractions (family, friends, peers, commerce, vices and yes if the per-individual ideal spare time is available , exhaust even inertia and inaction) and will be left to think about life, his existence, his death and of things that he can do and he can enjoy purely for the act of doing and of such abstract things which many perceive to be nonsensical and not relevant in the times we are.

Even more, now that man gets this time to think of such aforementioned things, it is likely he will then find some more time to act upon a few of these and while he acts thinking that, yes, this is but one life given to him and him being fortunate enough to realize his potential as the thinking and the rational animal, how truly then will mankind become better and how then human race will become truly intelligible to realize how good it is to be able to move slow and think and that its ok to be able to have enough spare time to live.

Success

Success, when perceived from the point of view of others is always relative, but when perceived only in relation with oneself, could and most probably should be considered absolute.
