Ticking away in time

Holding down the ticking time
as the ceiling comes falling down
patience patiently runs out of breath
and you start diving down into the dread
all the while lying still on the bed

straining that neck
to fix yourself up
as a twisted brace
and the head that falls on the chest
deaf ears that try to catch the beat
never mind the heart
that has been torn apart
but pulling up hard
to close the long open bracket
and flicker on for a while by
lighting up on her socket

but the ceiling starts its climb down
and you are trying to
hold down the ticking time
as you stare lying on the dread
patience patiently starts
to run out of its breath
coming down to crush you
the ceiling of debt
while you are lying down
lying down dead on the bed
